Have you ever wondered if inmates can enjoy arts classes? Is it difficult for people with disabilities to enter museums and theatres? Are immigrants stimulated in taking part in cultural activities?
All of these questions have led ART-ER, partner of the Inn@se project, to imagine and design a marathon of ideas dedicated to young people. The aim? Solving one, very specific, challenge at the intersection of the cultural world and the social sector: how can we increase the chances of getting in touch with arts and culture for specific target groups (i.e. inmates, migrants and people with disabilities)?
Innovathon: la cultura alla portata di tutti is the name of the initiative that took place on 14th June 2022 at MUG – Magazzini Generativi, a place managed by Emil Banca – supporter of the event – which has been recently regenerated to host co-working spaces, mentorship programs, training and much more.
During the event participants learned more about the Inn@se project and the outputs produced and worked in teams to solve the challenge proposed.
The activities foreseen during the day were diverse:
- they could talks with speakers operating in the cultural sector who provided useful insights; Eduradio&TV which produces cultural contents to encourage access to culture in prison; Fondazione Innovazione Urbana which has been involved in the development of an app with accessible pathways to visit Bologna without any barries (BoForAll); and Next Generation, the association that manages cultural tours guided by migrants (called Migrantour) to stimulate a change narrative and look at a city with fresh eyes
- they applied methodologies to identify the cause of problems, to brainstorm and to develop an innovative solution
- they tested themselves by practicing a pitch in front of an audience
All of the solutions were presented in front of a jury coming from heterogeneous organizations: pucic entities, universities, business support organizations.
It was a fun and productive day: participants went home with a smile on their face and many new friends. A first seed was spread, only the future will tell if some ideas might become new social business projects!
